Residents Can Adopt an Oak

The City of Thousand Oaks Adopt an Oak program allows you to adopt one of our beautiful local oak trees in honor of, or in memory of, one of your loved ones, co-workers, or friends.

The Oak is the official National Tree and Thousand Oaks is blessed with three primary oak varieties: Valley Oak, Coast Live Oak, and Scrub oaks. The City offers the opportunity to “Adopt An Oak” as an innovative way to raise funds to enhance funding for Open Space maintenance, and development of public recreational facilities. The City offers a choice of donation levels from $250, $500, $1,000 and $10,000 for one of the beautiful Heritage Oaks.

With more than 60 species growing in the United States, oak trees are America’s most widespread hardwoods. Throughout America’s history, oaks have been prized for their shade, beauty, and lumber. And, in Thousand Oaks, the oak holds a special place as the City’s namesake tree.

If you are considering a unique gift this spring, contact Cindy Murphy, City Manager’s Office, 805-449-2321 or cmurphy@toaks.org regarding the Adopt an Oak program.
